カルトンスタジオは、島津冬樹が2022年に立ち上げたプロジェクトです。活動の狙いは、段ボールのように普段は捨てられてしまうものに対する
「価値のあり方」を見つめ直すきっかけをつくることにあります。
そのためには、一人ひとりの「気づき」を増やしていくことが重要だと考えています。
段ボール財布を初めて作ったのは2009年、大学在学中のこと。
間に合わせで作ったのが始まりでした。
同時に、段ボール自体への関心に繋がり、
それから15年以上、ずっと段ボールと向き合ってきました。
活動を通じて、
この身近な素材の可能性と価値を、これからも少しずつ広げていけたらと思っています。
Carton Studio is working to change the concept of cardboard through workshops and design.
Carton Studio is a project launched by Fuyuki Shimazu in 2022.
Its mission is to inspire people to rethink the concept of “value”—especially in things we usually throw away, like cardboard.
We believe that creating moments of awareness, one person at a time, is the first step toward this shift in perspective.
The journey began in 2009, during Fuyuki’s university years, when he crafted his first cardboard wallet out of necessity. That experience sparked a deeper fascination with cardboard as a material. For more than 15 years since, he has been exploring its potential in creative and thoughtful ways.
Through workshops, media appearances, and hands-on engagement, Carton Studio hopes to continue expanding the possibilities and perceived value of this humble, everyday material.

これまで47カ国を巡り、段ボールの取り巻く環境や文化について、リサーチしています。またSNSやメディア等を通じて発表しています。
workshop
段ボールから財布を作るワークショップを中心に誰でも簡単に作れて、実用的なアイテムを
開発し、提供してきました。これまで様々な企業や教育機関と一緒に取り組みを行っています。
design
ボール自体のデザインにも取り組んでいます。リサイクルされる素材である一方で、
段ボールの次の使い道を考える段ボールのあり方を提案しています。
space & object
造作や空間デザイン、プロダクト制作など、昨今の事情に配慮したプランをcarton studioだからこそできるエッセンスを加えて提案致します。
